Public History in NJ Blog 2

At High Point State Park in northern New Jersey there is a monument for the heroes of new jersey. The monument was built for the veterans from the state of New Jersey. It was built on land donated by Colonel Anthony R. and Susie Dryden Kuser. The land was donated to the state of New Jersey by the founder of Prudential Insurance. Construction was started on the monument in 1928 and was finished in 1930. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to hike up to the top of the mountain and have the opportunity to visit the monument. At the top of the hill  have a breathtaking view of the ridges of the Pocono Mountains toward the west, the Catskill Mountains to the north and the Wall kill River valley in the south east.
